Uniquely decorated with allegorical characters of the Carnival of Venice, this public space of the Historic Center serves a choice of Italian and international dishes with a local flavor. Food is accompanied by excellent wines in an atmosphere liven up by instrumental and Cuban traditional music, both indoors and outdoors. The art of creating appetizing recipes, an excellent service and their ability to satisfy the most discerning palate have turned the Dominica into a privileged place among the restaurants in town. Not far from two of the city’s oldest squares – Plaza de Armas (Parade Ground) and Cathedral Square, the Dominica’s lovely smells season the busy corner of O’Reilly and Mercaderes street, where the old Captains General Palace, St. Jerome of Havana College with its small Santo Domingo square and Colección Habana store come together. The Dominica is now one of the venues for Habaneras Festival in Havana, whose center of attention is the Habanera, a term describing various forms of Cuban dance and songs from previous centuries. In November, the song Habanera fills every space of the restaurant, which has joined other institutions in their effort at keeping this genre alive in similar events.
