Chinatown

The Chinatown of Havana is located near the National Capitol of Cuba, between Amistad and Dragones streets, in the municipality of Centro Habana in the province of La Habana.

The neighborhood is formed by five small streets, the most important is Calle de Los Dragones.

According to the historian Julio Riverend, here were installed about 150,000 Chinese between 1847 and 1874; But today the neighborhood stands out for the absence of Chinese. The neighborhood is preserved thanks to the spirit of Chinese elders who still live here.

It is curious to see how in the neighborhood there are still the well-known Chinese Institution and Recreation Societies, which are small businesses formed by casino, bar, fonda and restaurant, all located on a first floor. In the neighborhood there is also a Chinese cinema that projects films in original version, as well as a pharmacy of Chinese homeopathy.
